- Planting Hole: Dig a hole that is approximately twice the size of the root ball of the grafted sapodilla tree.
- Planting: Carefully remove the sapodilla tree from its container, being cautious not to disturb the roots. Place the tree in the planting hole, ensuring that the graft union (the bulge where the scion and rootstock meet) is above the soil level.
- Backfilling: Fill the hole with soil, gently firming it around the base of the tree to remove air pockets. Water the tree thoroughly after planting to settle the soil around the roots.
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first few months after planting. Once established, sapodilla is somewhat drought-tolerant, but regular watering during dry spells is beneficial.
- Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer (such as 10-10-10) during the growing season, typically in spring and summer. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application rates.
- When you receive the plant, please water it daily and keep it in the pot for about 2 weeks before planting it in the ground.
