Arai evolved the XD-5 face shield to match the curvature of the rounded helmet, unlike generic shields with a rounded radius, matching the helmet's Glance Off ability in the event of a crash. All-new peak designed for more effective ventilation, increased high-speed flow-through performance, greater range of adjustability to block the sun and more resistant to buffering creating a more comfortable riding experience. VAS-A shield system allows for easier and faster shield swaps, allowing them to be attached or removed without the need for tools, and has been lowered on the XD-5 to further improve Glancing Off ability. Opening area of mouth shutter doubled compared to XD-4 allowing more fresh air in without the need for mesh vents. Inner shutter works with the mouth shutter and allows you to adjust the amount of movement of air entering the helmet and where it is directed: with both open, air is directed towards your mouth, with the outer open and inner closed, air is directed towards the shield to help reduce fogging. Front logo duct allows for movement of air regardless of the rider's position without compromising helmet strength or protection.
